The modifier/M.D.O direction is moving into the native Editable Mesh 2.0 route.
The modifier stack now has a Mesh2-aware reporting path and many modifiers can run through the native EM2 route instead of falling back to the older mesh path. Unsupported modifiers are skipped and reported instead of silently converting EM2 backward.
